Grappa Verde is a new silhouette, designed by Rayon Vert and built in our factory. It borrows loosely from two shoes of ours, the Grappa Hiker and the Movida approach shoe. The cloth is a houndstooth in sand, brown and orange — deadstock from our own archive, bought some years ago from an English supplier. We made as many pairs as the rolls allowed. There will be no more of them.
It closes on a cord and lock rather than eyelets. Waxed military suede over the toe, tongue and heel; the tongue and the side half-moon are perforated to a pattern the two brands drew together, and both logos run down the centre tape. Leather lining, neon green insole printed for the collaboration, rubber band applied and chamfered by hand. Underneath, the Vibram RGS Hiker in N-Oil, a compound made from more than 90% petroleum-free ingredients, in a shade called earth red — it comes out a little different from batch to batch. That is the compound, not a fault.

All Diemme shoes are made in Italy at the Calzaturificio Diemme factory in Onè di Fonte, Veneto. The ambition is to produce the highest quality artisan goods with an exceptional level of comfort, with progressive designs as well as sharply executed takes on classic styles.
