Otto Resource and Grocery Reveal Their Latest Diemme Footwear Capsule For the second edition of the collaborative exhibition series Function Complex, Otto Resource and Grocery presents a new footwear capsule in partnership with Diemme. Marking the seventh and eighth physical productions under the Otto Resource Purple Label, the release unites Diemme’s technical shoemaking expertise with Otto Resource’s archive-driven methodology and Grocery’s curatorial sensibility. The capsule comprises two silhouettes, each tied to the respective cities of Berlin and Copenhagen and reimagined through the Function Complex lens. The OR-PL07.25 Collalto Hiking Boot appears in vivid red—its references spanning uniforms, early music style tropes, and signaling gear—reflecting Otto Resource’s ongoing engagement with subculture and uniformity. The OR-PL08.25 Movida ’92 Sneaker offers a formal reinterpretation of Diemme’s sporty classic, merging athletic form with Danish design refinement. To deepen the cultural narrative behind each silhouette, Brazilian artist Gabriel Polo was commissioned to create an original illustration. Drawing on the surreal stillness of Yazoo’s Upstairs at Eric’s—an emblem of the sound permeating ’80s Berlin club culture—Polo’s work also echoes the jagged outlines of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, integral to Diemme’s alpine identity. Clean central forms and sharp clothing lines further recall the clarity of Danish design. In this way, Polo situates the footwear within a broader landscape of music, image-making, and symbolic association, underscoring the belief that design should communicate meaning beyond surface utility. The capsule launches exclusively online at Diemme and Grocery on Tuesday, August 19, at 12:00 CET. Remaining pairs will be available on-site during the opening of the Function Complex Berlin chapter, August 28–30.
